Have you ever come cross a young woman who does not want to look stunning and desirable? Sounds rare, right? Looking attractive is what almost every young woman in the world desires. Staying fashion conscious is not very easy, but the attempt can be made simpler by merely injecting some basic instincts to your fashion. Staying informed about the fundamental know-how involved in dressing for appearing presentable is of utmost importance. If you want to make a fashion statement, there is a combination of factors involved in it. From beauty products like shampoos from online discount drug store catalogue to accessories that compliment the attire, there are several things you need to take care of.

One of the reasons women are really apprehensive about their attire and put a lot of thought on it is because they do not want to make a fashion goof-up. You would have never dreamt of making a fashion mistake, will you? But even though you are this careful, you tend to commit common fashion mistakes that never dawn upon you. You should also know that the rate at which fashion attires change into trends, there are fashion disasters happening in at a similar rate. While in a race to standout from the crowd, the chances of being a victim to fashion faux pas are higher. Here are the top fashion blunders women should avoid and save themselves from a fashion debacle:

Outrageous skin exposure: Even though you prefer bold outfits or feel that attire that show a bit of cleavage or thigh-high mini-skirts are sexy, they are perfect for the ‘ramp’ rather than for regular day activities. In real world, it is difficult to carry such outfits and if a wardrobe malfunction happens, nothing could be worse than that moment in your life. Instead, focusing on main features of your body and dressing according could help you look prettier.

Choosing wrong undergarments: Undergarments are one of the most important yet underestimated elements of dressing picture perfect. You must have read about how celebrities use different kind of undergarments to look great in their super sexy outfits. On the other hand, it may happen that you look super baggy using such stuff. Following the celebrity footsteps is acceptable, but make sure your approach is not blind and mindless.

Over-sized clothes: Women, who are fat, have tummy bulges and other skin bulging out of their bodies prefer baggy clothes as they seem to cover their fats. On contrary, this is false and it further makes one look extra baggy. Avoid this major mistake and opt for clothes which suit your size and shape is important.

Excessive make-up: Make-up being the most important part of your style statement, extra care should be taken care of it. But many a times it happens that, with the fashion flow, either you wear excessive make-up or do it in an extremely odd manner. This may end-up making you look like a hooker, or next to a clown. Skin and costume friendly make-up is a must-do in your fashion routine.

Overly stuffed accessories: Accessories play important role in your fashion statement. Hence, it is mandatory to choose for appropriate accessories for each of your costumes. Many times, you end-up accessorizing yourself in a wacky way, calling a giant fashion disaster your way. On the other hand, some women don’t at all wear accessories or under-accessorize themselves which is also a debacle in a way.

You witness great fashion every day and also admire people who are perfectly fashionable. Similarly, you also wish to look adorable and want people to like your way of style and clothing. In order to achieve that, the only thing you need to do is follow fundamental rules of fashion and avoid some of the neglected mistakes you often do. Following some of the basics and injecting some of your brainy ideas can make you look picture perfect and make you stand out from the crowd.

Style is a way to say who you are, without having to speak! Style depicts your elegance and overall personality but elegance and personality differs from one woman to other, so does style. Usually, women are confused between fashion and style, and treat them as one. However, style and fashion are two different parameters of your personality. Fashion acts as an instant language portraying your relationship with current trends and latest in fashion world. Bodycon Dress, gowns, shorts, t-shirts, varieties of footwear and other accessories count on your fashion and style. In order to keep up with changing fashions trends, one has to consider each and every parameter of current trends.

On the other hand, it has become quite difficult to keep yourself updated with the trends, due to extra busy schedule and working hours. Keeping a balance between fashion and profession as well as personal life creates limitations to the way you present yourself, making you feel uncomfortable and sometimes even ugly. What if you follow certain fashions which never go out of style? It would certainly make you appear good and will ultimately make you feel comfy in your apparel, right? Here are top 7 trends that would never go out of fashion and you can follow all through:

Pair of Denims: No matter what season and occasion it is, a pair of denims will always save your day, if you combine them with a nice looking t-shirt or tank top. Serving great comfort as well as fashion, the apparel will make you appear elegant as well as trendy.

Crop Top: Though being a trend of 1980s, it has been significantly carried forth by every generation, due to its sexy look. Similarly, you can adapt the ‘crop top’ fashion trend and look sexy and appealing.

Black Sunglasses: Sunglasses being one of the important accessories adding-up to your personality, a pair of black color sunglasses would always contribute to your elegant appearance. They seem to be always in trend and look good in all seasons because of their magnificent look.

Buttoned-down Shirt: Combined with a nice looking skirt or trousers, buttoned-down shirts look awesome, whether you are dressing for a special occasion or formal meeting. If worn in different ways and styles, a formal looking shirt might look sexier than any other dress you have.

Black Dress: An elegant black dress acts as a savior when it comes to parties and occasions, you don’t have enough time to prepare for. You can shop for an expensive one, as it won’t expire and will work for you for rest of the life.

Knee-high boots: Whether it is a mini skirt or shorts, knee-high boots would work with almost every kind of apparel, making you look hot and trendy. They can be worn under the jeans and a long skirt as well, no matter what season it is.

Jacket: A nicely fitted jacket can go with any of your outfits like denims or skirts and would look great, adding an extra elegance to your appearance. Jackets with traditional fabrics like jeans would look excellent. At the same time, one can also try with those made of leather or brocade.

With these fashion ideas, you get the liberty to shop for similar apparels with an extended budget, as they would last for a long time and you won’t have to shop frequently.

Autumn and winter fashions are already starting to infiltrate the high street. Look books offer a tantalising taste of what we are going to be wearing in a couple of months’ time, but despite the rather unpredictable, topsy-turvy weather more common in winter, it is still in fact summer. In the market for a new maxi dress at this time of year is thus a little problematic. Do you buy one with winter in mind, thus choosing a deep, rich colour in heavier fabric, or do you stick with a summer style and laying up to the hilt come October? In truth, you want to go for a combination of the two. Here are three maxi dresses from Next that do the job nicely.

Winter 2012/13 is one of decadence and rich, sensual colours. It’s baroque, glamorous and a little punky. Plums, cobalt blue, deep red, dark green contrasted with cream and black are the strongest colours of the winter season look. A great on-trend maxi for this look is the Black Embellished Maxi Dress, £70. This dress boasts stunning embellishment detail around the waist – which is emphasised, a new shape of maxi for winter – and the neckline. It is slightly ruched, but the flowing skirt is summery and fresh.

There’s also a real gothic look to winter fashion this year. Gothic elegance, with a hint or street style thrown in is cool, contemporary and in complete contrast to the bright trends of the summer. However, during the summertime a gothic looking black maxi dress like the L. Lipsy Kiss and Tell Maxi Dress, £64, can be paired with neon bright shoes and some eye-catching jewellery. For winter, just add some lace and perhaps a touch of tartan if you want to punk it up a little. This sexy dress with embellished t-bar design on the back and silky v-neck front is absolutely stunning.

For more summery maxi dresses the Postcard From Brighton Lemon Daisy Maxi Dress, £48, is ideal. The simple shape and all over floral pattern give this dress and effortless cool summery feel. However, it would look great accessorised with sixties woollens which is yet another trend of the winter. A modern take on Mad Men style which is feminine yet funky is a trend that has run from 2011 and looks set to travel well into the future. Add a boxy, chunky-knit cardigan and some low-heeled courts and this look is retro cool.

The weather may be dreary but summer fashion is anything but. From pretty pastels to vivid neon hues the season is a kaleidoscope of colours that covers every section of the colour wheel. One of the best ways to introduce colour into your wardrobe is with your shoes. Wearing a day-glo shade of pink on your body is a little much for some people, but adding this shockingly bright pop of colour to your shoes is much more easily done.

Pastel shades are easily incorporated into your outfit, especially with the huge variety of coloured jeans now on offer, but a pair of jeans in neon yellow is not the look of choice for most women. But canary yellow shoes on the other hand are definitely doable. Here’s how.

Contrast

If you don’t want to be the centre of attention but still want to score fashion points then use your shoes as colour contrast. Choose shoes such as the Orange and Pink Platform Courts, £38 from Next and then go for a dramatic LBD or better still for summer an LWD. The contrast from vivid orange to white will look stunning. You could add an orange clutch and bangles or for a more appealing look keep the rest of the outfit crisp and clean in white, letting your shoes do all the talking.

Go all out

If you exude inner confidence then you must wear brights from head to toe. However, don’t match. This season you need to choose colours that you wouldn’t normally put together; those that are neighbours on the colour wheel, for example orange and pink, green and yellow or blue and purple. Cheryl Cole gets it spot on with her combination of orange and yellow seen here in the Metro. Don’t go in for fussy prints; stick to block colours and, as Cheryl has done, keep accessories to a minimum.

Pattern and print

Clashing prints – animal, scarf and geometric nineties patterns – are a hot trend this summer. But not really one for everyone; only a true fashionista can pull this look off from head to toe. But everyone can manage it on their toes, or feet, at least. Combine animal print with pinks and lime greens. Florals look great in reds, blues and greens and jazzy geometric prints the Fresh Prince would be proud of look great in yellow, orange and pink contrasted with black and white.

When a Hollywood actor wears a pair of designer glasses in public the style is emulated by their legions of adoring fans. They help to make the wearer look more exciting, and serve as an excellent way of accessorising an outfit. This is so much the case that many celebrities are wearing frames with ordinary, non-prescription lenses!

Here’s our brief guide to copying a glasses-wearing celebrity.

Traditionally ugly glasses, with big black frames, are far from sophisticated in any traditional sense and are more closely associated with John Major than anyone in the film or music industry. However, when worn by Johnny Depp, they somehow conjure cool. Tina Fey has become a master of this look.

Jim Carrey regularly dons the ‘geek chic’ glasses in public, a look he borrowed from his erstwhile lover, Jenny McCarthy.

Designer glasses are popular because they enable the wearer to make a fashion statement. However, contact lenses are often better for formal wear because they can be bought in a variety of colours, allowing the wearer to match colours. Contacts also have the advantage of simplicity and can be worn when in scenarios where glasses are impractical – such as sports events or dances.

In terms of glasses fashion, the 1980s are currently enjoying prominence. This fits in to the wider 80s cultural renaissance, with colourful t-shirts, skinny jeans and disco pop making a comeback in the hipster clubs of Shoreditch and Hoxton. This is not to say that glasses tastes have reached the crazy levels of Elton John, circa ‘Still Standing’ era.

So if you’re looking to copy some celebrity eyewear, you have an abundance of inspiration available, suiting all styles. From Katy Perry, Kanye West, OzzyOsbourne and Johnny Depp, there is something for everyone. Try LensWay glasses for an exciting designer range.

The fashion landscape is no longer ruled by the skinny minnies of the fashion world. Said this, it’s apparent to assert that the runway models aren’t the exclusive one’s to posses the license to fun with fashion. There are tons of plus sized women out there who believe that they have limited wardrobe options as they have to cling on to solid colors. Well, dump your sources that make you believe this! Even you have quite a lot to choose from, and if you shop smart then it’s your time to shine amongst the hottest looks of the season.

As industry norms are quickly picking up the plus size fashion trends, this is a perfect time for plus sized women to embrace their personal style, but you can begin effectively once you chuck those myths of plus size fashion -

Myth – Start with the best clothes.

Reality – Start from under your clothes instead of over it. First opt for the right undergarments which will hold your ‘things’ in place. Many women fail to notice this, but the key to a perfect wardrobe is purchasing the right minimizer, bra or shapewear, which will make your clothes look and fit better.

Myth – Prints and Patterns are not for plus sized ladies.

Reality – Vertical stripes is the answer for this. Prints with a lot of space or horizontal stripes should be completely avoided but on the other hand vertical stripes will help elongate your shape and make you look leaner. There is a huge array of ladies plus size catalogue available in markets these days consisting of vertical patterns which are one of the biggest fashion trends this season.

Myth – Hide yourself with dresses big for you.

Reality – Stick to your size. Many ladies buy apparels which are two sizes too big for them thinking that they won’t reveal the reality under the material. The reality is completely opposite. A large dress will just make you look bigger than what you actually are. The bottom line – Hug those curves.

If you’re one of those who like following fashion trends of every season, here’s a suggestion – incorporate the trends that suit your body the best. If you are a plus size woman, perfection lies in a balance between highlighting your best attributes and adorning them with your favorite fashion.

You might be surprised to be considering the forthcoming summer when we’ve barely even written our 2011 Christmas lists, but in the future-focused world of men’s fashion, the history books have already been written for our Olympic summer wardrobe.

Shoppers online and in store at department stores like House of Fraser are stocking up on mens fashion such as knitwear and dark tones and they’ll be surprised to find that these trends are still going to be in the shade come the sunnier months.

Racing off the catwalks at the latest round of men’s fashion shows in London, New York, Paris and Milan this last September, we saw two main trends: sportswear, and dark shades.

So how to shop for summer now? Invest wisely and choose your fabrics carefully. That’s not to say avoid winter items one chunky-knit cardigan or pullover from Jack and Jones will set you up for winter.

Dreaming of sunshine: we look ahead to men’s summer fashion

But consider the future too. Lighter knits such as the Howick fine stripe jumpers, and One True Saxon jumpers in beiges and browns, will last through winter and into the (inevitably not very scorching) summer.

Sportswear being an influence obviously designers are looking forward to the Olympics means that you need to be a little savvy. The idea is more Roger Federer off-duty than John MacEnroe, headband and mini-shorts.

Investing in a lighter Barbour jacket is a great idea for some outdoorsy chic without going straight down the shellsuit line. And pick your colours carefully. Navies and blues are classic staples, but this season’s men’s catwalks saw prints and patterns that had previously been monopolized by women’s fashions.

Think instead about black and grey bases with hints of orange, red and even fuschia streaks. And be imaginative when it comes to your sporty signatures track pants and joggers can come in linen, looking more like the loose chinos which were popular last summer.

The humble jacket is an absolute must have for your Spring/Summer wardrobe and comes in a variety of styles to complement this season’s biggest styles!

Yes, now that the weather has turned from grey and dismal into something resembling spring time it’s now time to ditch the bulky winter coat and opt for a lighter jacket instead.

Jackets are a great cover up for when the sun goes down and keeping out the chilly evening air and are good for carrying around on nights out rather than trying to lug around a big winter coat!

So what are the hottest styles for Spring/Summer 2011? There are quite a few choices if you want to be on trend for the summer season.

Last year was all about the hard military lines but this season sees some softer styles to choose from. Why not opt for a soft leather brown jacket? They’re a great option for spring especially and leather is something that lasts a long time, so it’s a great investment piece. For an edgier style you could also choose to try a motorcycle style jacket – the zips and detailing offer a more alternative look.

Brights are also a big trend for Spring/Summer 2011. So if you want to be bang on trend and stand out from the crowd then this can be a great trend to follow. Think vibrant 70s style and you will be right on track! Eye popping colours to watch out for include poppy red, banana yellow and cobalt blue.

If you want something for a night out then blazers are always a good option effortlessly smart and stylish and go with just about anything, a blazer is a brilliant wardrobe staple. If you want something a little different then why not opt for a pinstripe version or one in a brighter colour.

Click to see the collection of jackets on offer at K & Co, the retailer with over 100 years of home shopping experience
